About Trench Legends

Trench Legends is a free measurables tool and training resource for offensive linemen. It gives linemen honest, position-specific standards, so they can see exactly where they stand and what to train toward, at every level of the game.

Why it exists

Linemen are the most overlooked players in football when it comes to measurables. Most combine talk is built around skill-position 40 times, while the players in the trenches are simply told to "get bigger". Trench Legends exists to change that, with standards and advice built for the position.

The coach behind it

Trench Legends is built by Coach Buddy Tanner, a veteran offensive line coach with over 30 years of experience developing championship-calibre offensive linemen. Every article on the site comes from that time on the practice field: what separates linemen who climb a level from those who stall.

Coach Tanner is also the author of "Giantslayer: Winning in the Trenches", a guide to the craft, mindset and technique of playing offensive line, available on Amazon.

How the standards work

The standards in the measurables tool are approximate. They are drawn from widely cited offensive line camp and combine data, and they are not official requirements of the NCAA or any school. Standards vary by year, level, scheme and evaluator, so treat them as targets to train toward, not verdicts. See the Disclaimer for more.
